ROLLING...

I've been wanting roller skates for YEARS! Lately I've been thinking how fun it would be to roll around at the gallery with it's rock hard concrete floors.

My house has ALL tile floors! It took me a solid 3 hours to scrub them last week, when I realized "Hey these floors could be FUN!!!!!!"

So yesterday I bought some roller blades and rolled my pudgy winter belly around all day! With any luck, this will be my spring time exercise regimen.

(I wanted skates, but they are too old school to find easily. Turns out rollerblades are just like ice skating.)

I'm sure in another week there will be pictures of my bruised body :o)

BUSY BEE

ahhhhhhhhhhhhH. I never have enough time!
I have so much I want to do and tell everyone. There is major MAJOR drama at our new art center. I try not to let it effect me, but my mind is pre-occupied with it. I can't really discuss it right now because it's too intense and pretty sticky.

So because of this and the extra meetings, my schedule has been too crammed.

I apologize for not having my new "ORPHAN part 2" sale ready to start on Saturday Feb. 7th. I will honestly work my butt off to get it ready for Sunday morning. I have the pictures taken of all the sale rings, but not the pins.

And the shawl pins are gonna be awesome :o)

Dunkin Donuts

Dunkin Donuts has the most amazing

& delicious donut! I don't know how to spell it, much less say

it...but it's something like the "french coullet".

My waisteline is not happy about the Dunkin Donut western invasion....but I'm thrilled as could be.

Darn Granny Panties

I do alot of embarrassing things...

One of my most recent involved the ever comfortable secret "granny panties". Yes, from time to time I throw them on cuz who's gonna see them ...Right??? wrong!

Innocently roaming the isles of the dollar store, I was just trying to break up my day and get away from the internet for a bit.

It seemed that there was a small swarm of significantly older gentlemen continuously circling around me, but I figured it was my imagination.

After carelessly browsing for an hour or so, I made my purchases and left the store. Naturally my hands were full with bags and my purse and keys.

I noticed a chilly draft in the southern region. YUP, my zipper was down and WIDE WIDE WIDE open. What's worse is that my flowery grannys were exposed AND my hands were full so I couldn't subtly zip (without putting all my bags down on the sidewalk and publically zipping)!!! And as a special treat, I had parked very far away to get a little exercise and I had to walk by the grocery store and bank... and several several people. uggh.

I've been having an "ORPHAN" sale at www.rubyvegasdesigns.com and it has kept me super busy :o). All my orphan shawl pins were on sale for $5 and $10. I'm just trying to clear up space and be more organized for 2009. Thank you to all my fabulous customers who have helped me out with the sale :o)

New Year Resolutions

GOT ONE?
Here's mine (in no particular order):

1. I of course, have the usual "exercise more"...or exercise at all :o)
2. Take half an hour a day to stop clutter of jewelry projects
3. Take 10 minutes a day to speed clean the house
4. cook more
5. Keep in touch with my brother more
6. Serious business plan for RubyVegas

The last one is a doozy because I have so many goals! Sometimes it's so hard to even know where to begin. Maybe this year I will actually make it to SCORE (a program where retired executives volunteer to help with your business).

I feel better seeing this written down :o)

It's literally been six years since I've seen snow. It is absolutely gorgeous, mostly cuzz it's not cold out- just white and stunning.

Ebay bites

The truth is that I love ebay. I try not to go there because I completely get sucked into it. My secret competitive nature rips out of my body and battles it out- auction after auction...
For the past 5+ years, I've been so good, only doing the BUY IT NOW listings. But last week I suffered a set back. Today I had to buy a tumbler...which led to purchase, after purchase, after purchase.

So I guess I might as well start a store to sell my ebay purchases. Anybody need sterling pendants, earrings & rings in the coolest stones imaginable???
SSSSSSSSSSshhhhhhh don't tell on me, or i'll end up homeless too.

Been making orders like CrAzY! The truly funny thing is that while I'm making them, I come up with new ideas...then I have to experiment...next thing you know it's 5am.

But naturally, I get sidetracked making new designs...

Saturday is our silent auction at the center. I'll post a picture when I'm done making whatever it is I make :o) No worries, I still have two days----YIKES!

Woohooo I did it!

December 2nd...4:05am and I'm finishing up! Everything is made, packaged and postage applied. I only have one more to apply postage to in the morning!!! Not bad, 5 hours of work. Come on baby, throw some more goodies my way :o)

Wow, I got slammed with 19 orders today! I'm so excited. YIPEE.
Many of the pins are my more unusual designs, I look forward to challenging myself with them a bit :o) Don't worry, there's still another 2 weeks to place your order and get the pins in time! I'm gonna dare myself to get all 19 shipped out by tomorrow...think I can do it??? It's 11pm now...

This weekend the Museum and Art Center is having a silent auction to help raise money for projects. Each gallery/artist is going to donate something fabulous. I have no idea what I'm donating yet, I'll try and post a picture before it goes bye bye!

I need a Graphic Designer Friend!

AHHHHHHHHHH. So everytime I want to advertise or someone offers to promote me, I need a logo or a banner or an ad. For the past few years I've been getting by, but I'm going to have to breakdown. I just spent WAY tooooo much time on the below banner.

I wanted to make the funniest one ever (see the big pic on top), but it was a disaster. I couldn't get anything to turn out crisp...or the right size :o(.

I'm not giving up though, I have big plans for funny retro ads and themes... Momma didn't raise no quitter.

Always wanted to be a Pirate anyway?!

OUCH! So the other night when I was updating my website, I took my glasses off. Always wondered if I could read the monitor better without them...well now I can't read it at all...with my right eye.

That's right! I poked my EYEBALL with the arm of my eyeglasses. It didn't hurt too bad until the next day and the day after. Why Me?!!!???

Oh well, at least I have another one just like it :o)

My apologies to all my fabulously patient customers whose pins were a day later than anticipated. It's apparently easier to do a lot of things with two eyes...

Yipee it's my busy season!

I so look forward to the weather turning cold! Come winter time (okay it's still 70 degrees here), I get to wear my scarves and hats. My customers start wearing theirs too and this means I get super busy making pins!

Right now I'm working on a new series of "Teeny Tiny's". These are kilt style pins measuring 2" or less. After all size doesn't matter, right girls :) ???

Isn't it funny to miss that fiesty, chilly, nippy temperature. But love Las Vegas because of the constant happy sunshine. Mostly I live here so I never have to drive in blizzards or on ice ever again. Nothing like a Wyoming winter white-out or getting stuck in 35 below temps and calling Search & Rescue to save us...oh the good ole days.

Mi Mama Y Pappa

My parents came for a visit this week! It's always nice to play with them. Mamma bear is a fabulous cook and daddy helps me with my tools & computer problems... It's always great to have them come to Las Vegas. Too bad it's only every few years (hint:hint).

OH Yeah, I also got a haircut. It's too short, but I'm getting used to it. And I'll save a lot of money on shampoo and conditioner, so I can't whine too much.
